Services
Taiwan’s most prestigious theatre, which opened in 1987, has seating for 1,524 guests. The theatre enjoys a high international reputation, not least for its commitment to preserving classical Chinese theatrical arts.
In 2015, it was decided to undertake extensive renovation work. SBS won the subsequent international tender. In addition to the vast range of work required, the particular challenge of this contract lay in the tight schedule and the many unfamiliar on-site conditions. Within eight months, the entire stage equipment was dismantled and replaced by 96 new machines in the overstage area and 42 new understage drives. The computerised COSTACOwin® control system was installed to manage all stage equipment.
On 3 March 2017, directly after SBS officially finished its work, the Taipei National Theater opened its doors again for regular performances and events.
